Colored Contacts

Colored Contacts They say that eyes are the portal to the soul. They are the first thing people see when they look at you, and their color can make a difference in how your feel about yourself and how others see you. Maybe you have blue eyes but have always wanted green. Maybe you want to add a dramatic flare to a costume. Whatever look you're going for, colored contacts can get you there.

For the most dramatic change, opt for opaque tints. These are contacts that completely cover the natural color of your eye resulting in a total change as opposed to simply brightening or deepening the natural color. However, when you are looking, be aware of the fact that most manufacturers make contacts for dark eyes and light eyes separately. Make sure that you are buying the right ones for you.

If you don't want something so dramatic, you can go for an enhancement tint. These are colored contacts that are more translucent, but enhance the natural color of your eyes. For example, if you have blue eyes, these contacts will bring out the blue even more. Brown eyes will appear warmer, or you can add gold flecks. It is a more subtle change that can make a big difference.

The most extreme colored lenses are theatrical lenses. These contacts can be nearly anything under the sun. You can make your eyes into soccer balls or cat eyes or happy faces or any other image. There are also contacts that make the entire eye, even the white part, a solid color. Imagine how creepy your Halloween costume will look with your eyes totally blacked out.

As with any contacts, colored lensens take some getting used to, even if you have worn traditional lenses before. They have a slightly different feeling when in the eye before the eye has adjusted. There is also the chance that the colored lenses might shift and blur your vision at times. This is minor, but very noticeable if you have never experienced it before. The theatrical contacts that cover the entire eye are much harder to get used to. It is recommended that you wear them for short periods of time at home before wearing them out or for an event.

Have fun with the colored contact lensens. Try a few samples before deciding on a pair to wear on a daily basis, and experiment with your new look.
